Riverside Language Program
Riverside Language Program is seeking substitute ESOL teachers available to teach a 5-hour day, with an hour for lunch. Classes are free, full-time and intensive, running from 9am-3pm, Monday to Friday. Students are adult immigrants, asylees and refugees from more than 50 countries, speaking more than 90 native languages. Riverside employs a student-centered, communicative English language teaching approach focusing on speaking, listening, grammar and pronunciation. Civics and IT skills are also an important part of our curriculum. Teachers and substitutes have the freedom to create their own lesson plans. Our four class levels range from basic to high intermediate. Applicants should have a Master’s degree in TESOL or a closely-related discipline, or be CELTA-certified.

Director – Literacy and Legal Immigration Programs (Astoria & New York City)
Job Summary: Oversee HANAC’s adult literacy and legal immigration services funded under multiple contract sources. Ensure contract requirements of quality program content, curriculum development, and service delivery are met consistently.
Reports to: Director of Operations and Program Development
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with three to five years working for not-for-profit Adult Literacy programs with Legal Immigration components. Master’s degree in Education, administration or other related field with 3 years experience in supervisory role working in Adult Literacy and Legal Immigration.
Superb leadership, analytical, organizational and management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including grant writing skills. Effective interpersonal and team-building capabilities. Ability to establish and utilize linkages including HANAC’s other programs to enrich program activities and meet the needs of clients.
Computer Skills – Microsoft Office. Knowledge of ASISTS, CAPRICORN and BEST PLUS certified.
This position is determined to be Exempt for purposes of the US DOL FLSA.

Program Liaison/Assistant to
Director of Operations
Job Summary: Assist the Director of Operations by liaison with Program Directors on site including basic knowledge of programs, clients, need. Provide feedback to DOO for fund raising, proposals and program development
Working with Program Directors to resolve contract questions and issues
Report to DOO issues discussed or observed in the field that may enhance or impede the performance of a program
Conduct research for proposals and initiatives
Thoroughly review and understand programmatic and fiscal aspects of 40+ contracts
Review all reports submitted by Director’s to ensure accuracy. Once reviewed by DOO reports to be sent to funding source.
Participate with contract and proposal submissions
Assist with implementation of projects such as surveys, focus groups, etc.
Participate in meetings held by funding sources
Assist in the preparation of budgets
Other duties required by the DOO to fulfill agency needs
Qualifications: Some college with interest in social services; strict attention to detail when reading mundane documents and contracts, acute comprehension of written documents and contracts, excellent writing and communication skills.
Must be willing to travel frequently between Manhattan office and program sites in Queens and Harlem as needed. Ability to work well under pressure, multi task, computer skills, MS Office, Excel.
Full-time position 35 to 40 hours weekly.
